the Fire Department
Public
Awareness
The
Dyersburg Fire Department continuously strives to teach the
importance of fire safety. Fire safety education is
not only taught during Fire Prevention week in October,
but throughout the entire year. Firefighters go to schools
in Dyersburg and Dyer County and speak to all ages about the
fire service and fire safety. Fire drills are conducted
periodically at all city schools in conjunction with Fire
Codes Enforcement & Prevention division and the Dyersburg
City School System.
Firefighters
also teach fire safety through fire station tours. A
fire station tour is an excellent opportunity for any age
to see up close what the Dyersburg Fire Department is about.
We
also conduct home fire safety inspections, i.e. proper smoke
detector installation and targeting fire hazards in the home.
The fire department is an active participant
in the annual Quad County Career Fair and recently participated
in the first annual Green Village Health Fair. Fire
extinguisher classes can be arranged by calling fire headquarters.
